Creating the Perfect New Moon Ritual
Each month, we are greeted with both a new and full moon. This creates multiple opportunities throughout the year for us to sit down, reflect, and determine what our next moves need to be. Embracing our connectedness to the moon, we only thought it was filling to dive in and uncover what the perfect new moon ritual can look like. We hope this inspires you to create a ritual of your own and embrace the changing and enlightening energies of the moon.
What Is a New Moon?
A new moon occurs when the moon travels between the Earth and the sun. The shadow essentially creates the dark side of the moon, which is the part that is visible, or not so visible, to us during this lunar transit. New moons are a time of manifestation. They are about new beginnings and new opportunities, so they are the perfect time to start a new project or determine the foundation for new beginnings.
How to Create a Moon Ritual
A lunar ritual can look any way you’d like it to, these are just our suggestions for how to get started. If you’d like to create a ritual more intuitively, sit in a quiet space, close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and focus on what your intuition tells you to include. There is no right or wrong way to conduct a new moon ritual, as long as the ritual benefits you in a positive way.
We suggest starting your ritual by gathering the materials you may need first. In this case, you need a few crystals, pen and paper, a soothing aromatherapy mist, and a quiet space to yourself. Once you’ve gathered all your items, begin by cleansing your space with the aromatherapy mist. Crack a window or door to let any old energy escape and create space for new, more positive energies to join. When you’re ready, find a comfortable seat and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths, focusing on the present moment and allowing your mind to quiet. Sit in this space for a while; feel your body relax with each breath. Envision yourself to be happy, no matter what that may look like for you. Envision yourself to be successful.
After a few moments in meditation, slowly open your eyes. Grab the pen and paper and write down what you saw. How did it make you feel? Is there anything you would change? Is that truly the reality you desire? Once you have finished reflecting, use another piece of paper to write down your manifestations. Write them as if you’re journaling in that present moment—as if it’s happening to you right now. Keep these manifestations on you so you can read them or say them out loud to remind you of the goals you are setting for yourself.
Moving forward, you can use each new moon as a milestone checkpoint. Reflect on whether or not your dreams have changed (they are allowed to) and what new steps may be required. Reflect on how you feel and celebrate what you’ve accomplished. This is a great way to incorporate moments of self-care and reflection into your lifestyle, so you can keep living in the present moment but manifesting for your future!
